Just like condominium

A new condomonium project ? Nope, it isn't. It is the new HDB blocks in BUangkok, built under the Design and Build Scheme. This scheme allows private developer to design and build the housing blocks, and then later sell them. Ah..that is why these housing blocks are beautiful and more stylish, very different from the typical old HDB apartments.
I dont mind living in one of these buildings :D

A deserted icon?

Not really. This is a bus stop around Buangkok area. It is kind of impressive architectural work, well designed and it certainly looks sleek though a bit extravagant for a bus stop :D
Buangkok is a newly developed area by HDB (Housing & Development Board of Singapore). Like other new towns, public housings in Buangkok area are carefully planned, very well designed, and in my opinion, are often comparable to private condominiums in term of design.

Years before a new area is developed, HDB would have started planning its masterplan. Coordination among various parties such as the architects, the civil engineers, people from National Parks, Land transport Authority, ministry of education and many others would be scheduled regularly.

As the result, in Buangkok newtown there is a newly built Mosque (Mawaddah Mosque), a public school, a big supermarket, a nice eateries, an MRT station (of course), and an LRT line. And look...there are still empty plots of land to be developed in the future!!

The Central Fire Station

The Central Fire Station on Hill Street, opposite Funan the IT Mall. Nearest MRT: Cityhall MRT station.
The first and oldest fire station in Singapore. Now, it also houses a small yet interesting heritage corner, showing its history way back from the beginning of 20th Century.
A must see tourist destination, especially if you go with young children. The fire fighters are always very helpful and would be more than happy to show you around the station. Just visit the place on Saturdays around 9-11am to see the demo of fire drill.
